posted 11/19/2012 Dedham Youth Lacrosse participates as a member of the
Mass Bay Youth Lacrosse League (MBYLL) for the boys and
The Founder Girls Lacrosse League (FGLL) for the girls. Both leagues have similar philosophies when it comes to teaching the game of lacrosse, focusing on the joy of the sport, and promoting good citizenship on and off the field.
MBYLL promotes the growth of the game of lacrosse throughout eastern Massachusetts by providing leadership, guidance, training and structure to anyone interested in lacrosse. Member towns field all players as equally as possible with the goal of teaching the sport and providing a fun experience for all involved.
- There are no standings kept
- No league championships or playoffs
- There are no “A” or “B” teams
- Players receive equal playing time
- Coaches receive educational support in both lacrosse fundamentals and positive coaching
- Rules are modified to emphasize sportsmanship.
FGLL was created to help elementary and middle school aged girls in our member towns learn to play and enjoy lacrosse.
- Honor the game by exemplifying its values of integrity, trust and competition
- Teams organized by school grade (1st/2nd, 3rd/4th, 5th/6th and 7th/8th)
- Balanced teams at each age level
- Emphasize skill building, teamwork, healthy competition and fun
- Promote equal playing time for all players
- Keeps game scores but does not post or publish them during or after the game
- Has no standings, play-offs or championships
- Adheres to a Zero Tolerance policy for misconduct of players, coaches & spectators
